Our reconditioning process
When seals are received from a customer we throughly clean and inspect them. Then we determine whether the seals are reconditionable, require remanufacturing (with replacement parts), or need to be replaced with new seals. All reconditionable seals are ground to .002 parallelity then lapped to one light band (11.6 millionths of an inch flatness). Seal faces are then checked with an optical flat under monocromatic light before we dip them in a low-temperature plastic and oil solution to protect the faces until installation. New o-rings are installed, then seal assemblies are boxed for shipment.
